LADA Vesta to get automatic transmission

LADA launches the production of the LADA Vesta cars with continuously variable automatic transmission. New car version is a part of the Brand’s strategy to expand model range and increase comfort of driver and passengers.

Continuously variable transmission of the Jatco brand is widely applied in cars of the Renault-Nissan Alliance and since July, 2019 they are offered customers in LADA XRAY Cross. The main feature of the automatic transmission is the use of two-step geared sector in addition to V-belt transmission with a powerful steel belt. This decision allowed to make the transmission more compact and by 13% lighter than previous ones. This solution increases traction performance, and moreover the transmission does not afraid of low temperatures, slipping and heavy loads, and, in addition, when confident accelerating provides acoustic comfort and high fuel efficiency.

For the first time the Alliance 113-hp HR-16 engine is installed on LADA Vesta with the automatic transmission. New powertrain calibrations were developed in the adapting process of transmission to apply in LADA Vesta. Also there were used original exhaust system, new wheel drives, modernized powertrain. Complex of engineering solutions allowed to save the weight of the car and the ground clearance: 178 mm for basic versions and 203 mm for Cross modifications. Models of the LADA Vesta family with this transmission type have passed the full test cycle. 39 cars have passed road tests. Their total volume made1 mln km. Also the car passed indoor and climatic tests: in Surgut – at a temperature of minus 47 degrees Celsius and in Taman at + 40 C.

The new transmission, significantly increasing driving comfort, will receive the following cars of the family: sedan and sedan Cross, SW and SW Cross. New blue color “Diving” to appear in the color range of LADA Vesta with the release of the new model.
